Intergenerational relations

The Committee, coordinated by Gabriele Calvi, has examined the numerous aspects of intergenerational relations: psycho-sociological, demographic, economic, political, and in different settings, starting with spaces that serve as “places” for different generations to meet and talk:  the family, school and the workplace. The first meetings of the Committee looked at researches already conducted or ongoing in Italy and overseas. At the end of this initial phase each member was assigned a particular dimension or study area, namely: “Relations between parents and children in reality and according to television fiction” (Milly Buonanno); “Relations among generations in educational establishments” (Alessandro Cavalli); “Existential perceptions: a dimension of the distance between generations” (Gabriele Calvi); “Remembering and forgetting in intergenerational relations; some observations on coherent and contrasting memories” (Christian Giordano); “Discontinuity, solidarity, eco: demographic changes from different generations’ point of view” (Giuseppe Micheli); “Technological change and the changing ways of using the media in terms of intergenerational relations” (Peppino Ortoleva); “A pact between generations, rhetoric and reality” (Sergio Scamuzzi). These contributions were published in a collective volume, Generazioni a confronto (“Generations face to face”, Marsilio, Venezia, 2005).
