The economic importance of the north-west for Italy's economic and social geography is a constant of Italy's history. However, with the demise of the "industrial triangle" (Milan, Turin, Genoa), we no longer have an adequate analytical knowledge of its relevance and current state. This research work seeks to offer key elements for the reclassification of the area in order to be able to view the area in a new and positive light.
